From Data to Impact: Harnessing Genomic Power for Economic and Health Innovation in Canada
Étienne Richer, Director, Genomics Programs, Genome Canada
Dr. Étienne Richer, with a postdoctoral background in infectious disease genetics and broad healthcare consultancy experience, began advancing the genomics community in 2011 as Assistant Director at the CIHR Institute of Genetics, later becoming Associate Scientific Director.
Over 14 years, Étienne was instrumental in shaping the institute’s strategy, strengthening ties with national researchers, and establishing international partnerships to expand opportunities for Canadian genomics. His expertise and collaborative leadership have been recognized notably through his appointment as Chair of ICPerMed’s Health Economics Working Group and his subsequent election as Chair of ICPerMed.
Building on his extensive experience, Étienne now serves as Director of Genomics Programs at Genome Canada, where he is dedicated to advancing a robust Canadian genomics ecosystem. In this role, he leverages his passion and vision to drive genomic innovation and lead Genome Canada’s health mission.
